Legalize US Online Casinos

August 18, 2010

Since July 28, 2010, the question on everyone’s mind is: will the US government actually legalize US online casinos? There have been rumors ever since gambling was made illegal September 2006 with the Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act and the Goodlatte-Leach Internet Gambling Prohibition Act that these acts would be reversed. And finally, it seems like it might come true, that the Congress will legalize US online casinos.

US online casinos will make a huge difference in the US economy. It is a well-known fact that online gambling is a great way to gather taxes. In fact, US gambling legalized could potentially add $42 billion to the US Treasury in only 10 years! That’s why many countries that have previously restricted only gambling are now in the midst of legalizing online casinos and gambling.

If the politicians actually agree to legalize US online casinos, that will mean that land-based casinos in Atlantic City Las Vegas might have to follow online casinos examples and offer some kind of casino bonuses, something that land-based casinos have yet to do. Democratic Congressman of Massachusetts Barney Frank has been trying to legalize US online casinos ever since the US government deemed them illegal. After 4 years, he might actually win!

If US gambling legalized, then casinos like Manhattan Slots Casino, who already accept US players, will not have to worry about doing anything wrong (not that I think they are!). All we can do now is wait for the House of Representatives to vote sometime between September 7th and October 8th. And then we’ll finally know if US online casinos are legal or not. I vote yes (but Dad isn’t very powerful in the eyes of politicians). Oh well.
