Keno Game
The origins of the keno game trace back to China, although the name seems to be rooted from either French or Latin. Apparently, over 3,000 years ago, a man named Cheung Leung invented this lottery-type game with 120 Chinese characters in it to help fund the army in his city (as they were losing the war and needed funding). Not only did Leung’s game help fund the army, they ended up winning.
More History of the Keno Game
This keno game soon made itself throughout China, often called “The Great White Pigeon Game”, and eventually the characters were reduced to 90 characters and finally 80 before finally brought to the US in the 1850s by the Chinese immigrants who were working on the railroad. Only after it made its way to New Orleans, there the Chinese characters were changed to Arabic numbers, which is basically where its currently used name came from. The French speakers in New Orleans called a set of 5 numbers a “quine”, which is where the eventual name of keno game came from.
The Online Keno Game
The online keno game came into being basically when the online casino became common in the boom of the internet in the late 1990s.
