Roulette Strategy
The game of roulette is in many ways like slots, and all about the luck of the spin. However, if you follow the basic roulette strategy that I’m about to impart to you, especially if you’re new to the game, you’ll find your chances of winning better than they might have been.
Of the top roulette strategy of all roulette strategies you’ll read, the most important one is to bet in the “outside” betting area. There are the “inside” and “outside” betting areas, and the odds vary greatly between both areas. The odds are so high when betting in the “inside” area for a reason…
The “Inside” Betting Area
| Bet | What It Means | Odds |
| Straight Bet | Bet is on 0, 00, or 1-36 | 35 to 1 |
| Row 0 or 00* | Bet is on 0 and 00 | 17 to 1 |
| Trio | Bet is on 0, 1, and 2 or 00, 2, and 3 | 11 to 1 |
| Street | Bet is on the side of the board and meant for the 3 numbers in that row (e.g. 1, 2, 3 or 4, 5, 6, etc,) | 11 to 1 |
| Corner | Bet is In the middle of 4 numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 4, 5, or 2, 3, 5, 6) | 8 to 1 |
| 5 numbers** | Bet is in the middle of 0, 00, 1, 2, 3 | 6 to 1 |
| 6-line | Bet is on 2 rows=6 numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) | 5 to 1 |
*00 bet is only available in US roulette wheels
**Only possible with a US roulette wheel. This bet has a 7.9% house advantage, which is the highest of any bet in roulette
The “Outside” Betting Area
The “outside” betting area has many more options: 1-18, 19-36, evens, odds, red, or black, which all pays 2 to 1; 1st 12 (number 1-12), 2nd 12 (numbers 13-24), and 3rd 12 (numbers 25-36) or 1st column, 2nd column, 3rd column, which pays 3 to 1. If you’re still dead set on betting in the inside area because the odds are higher, at least listen to some of the free roulette strategy and bet on the lower odds in the inside area (like a 6-line, 5 numbers, corner, street, or even trio bet). A straight bet or even betting on the 0 or 00 is so unlikely.
Although my roulette strategie of betting in the outside area seems to pay much lower odds, it takes us to my second roulette strategy: make larger bets in the outside betting area! The likelihood that you’ll win your bet is much higher, so bet higher. Simple as that.
More Important Strategies
The next online roulette strategy is, when given the option, play European Roulette over American Roulette (seems that the house advantage, maybe due to the fact that US roulette has 0 and 00, is 5.3% as opposed to the house advantage of EU roulette, which is 2.7% – the US is nearly double that of the EU!).
Another roulette strategy I have is: don’t bother following the wheels previous spins (especially if you’re playing Live Roulette in an online casino). Despite what some naysayers might think, the roulette wheel isn’t fixed, nor does it have a memory. This goes for both land-based roulette and online roulette.
Perhaps this last roulette strategy might be overlooked, but it’s important nonetheless: play within your bankroll, and have fun! That’s all for my roulette strategies. Have a good time playing, try finding some great roulette bonus offers out there, and take some of my tips to heart (since Dad knows best!).
